For Indian freelancers & exporters

RBI purpose code finder

Every payment you receive from abroad needs a purpose code that tells the RBI what it was for. Describe your work and get the right code to give your bank or payment provider (Wise, Skydo, Razorpay, PayPal).

Why it matters

  • The code appears on your FIRA / e-FIRA, which is your proof of export income for GST (zero-rated exports) and income tax.
  • A service code (like P0807) tells the bank it's business income; a wrong one (like a gift, P1302) can cause questions later.
  • Use the same code for the same kind of work every time, and keep the invoice and contract for each payment.
